In Junior year of college I gained 25lbs seemingly out of nowhere.
I stopped caring about being active. I ate and drank whatever I wanted. I felt like shit. Self conscious. Lethargic. Lazy.
I was constantly out of breath going up stairs and frustrated how many cute “going out” clothes looked terrible on me.
One day it hit me HARD!
I was in my strength and conditioning class and we were doing a very simple warm up. All of a sudden, I couldn't breathe. I felt like I was having an asthma attack. I ran back to my room to grab my inhaler that I luckily had when I had bronchitis a couple years back and felt better as soon as I took it.
I was shocked. Have I developed asthma? How could this have happened?
I went to the doctor to get tested and results came back negative.
The doctor looked at me and said, “Honey, you don’t have asthma. You’re just out of shape.”
That was my moment of recognition of how bad things got. I needed to lose weight.
From that moment I started exercising religiously, drinking more water, making better choices with alcohol, and eating better.
The only problem was I honestly had no idea what I was doing. I spent way too much time on the elliptical, too many days in the gym without resting, and eating far too little.
I was so tired of eating the same thing over and over again. I was sick of feeling hungry and always thinking about my next meal.
I was taking workouts from Pinterest and assumed the longer I did cardio the more I would burn.
I hated cardio (my feet would literally go numb on that damn elliptical) and the workouts I was doing were not getting me any stronger and I was bored.
I hated not having a consistent plan and knowing what I was supposed to do.I finally found the methods behind my Metabolic Refeed System that I would build the strong, healthy, and toned physique I was striving for.
I started tracking my food, eating more, and found a program I could use to get more toned and stronger.
I loved every minute of it.
After a year I lost all 25lbs, plus more! I felt amazing! I was confident, energized, driven, and committed to my health.
That next fall I lost an additional 5lbs and competed in my first bodybuilding show.
